the role

We’re looking for a Copywriter / Brand Voice Lead to help sharpen DEPARTMNT’s tone, nail our storytelling, and make everything we publish feel undeniable.

From campaign headlines to web copy, social posts to product descriptions, you’ll craft language that turns tech into culture and culture into movement.

You’ll help define how DEPARTMNT speaks, sounds, and sells with clarity, attitude, and edge.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain DEPARTMNT’s voice across platforms and formats
  • Write copy for campaigns, product launches, pitch decks, and web content
  • Collaborate with design and marketing to create story-driven experiences
  • Support B2B messaging for CORE, CNX, and TapTech
  • Ghostwrite social content for our founder or brand accounts
  • Help script short videos, ads, or event content
  • Build a copy library and tone-of-voice guide for the wider team

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years writing for brands, agencies, or startups — ideally across tech and culture
  • A knack for translating complex ideas into simple, punchy language
  • Experience writing for digital, social, and IRL environments
  • Confidence in adapting tone across B2C, B2B, and community-facing content
  • Bonus: experience with UX/UI copy, naming, or editorial strategy
  • Fast, collaborative, and allergic to generic language
